Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Jayanti is the most sacred and important festival celebrated by the Sikh community all over the world. Gurpurab is also known as Guru Nanak’s Prakash Utsav, which again connotes the guru’s birth anniversary. Presidians celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti with ardour. Through this celebration, Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings and preaching were told to students. Presidians enthusiastically presented devotional songs, prayers, speeches, PowerPoint presentations on the life journey of Guru Nanak Dev ji and recalled his message of the oneness of God and equality amongst all regardless of caste or gender. Presidians made beautiful posters of Guru Nanak Dev ji, wrote quotes given by him, and lit their homes with candles and decorated them with flowers. They also discussed the three pillars of Sikhism that are Vand Chhako (sharing with others), Kirat Karo (work diligently), and Naam Japo (contemplating God’s names) and shared Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s belief that being selfless is the supreme duty of human beings.
