The budding scientists of Grade VIII of Presidium Dwarka 16B are learning how sound travels, through their Eureka activities. For this activity, the students conducted a simple experiment in which they made a telephone like object using two thermacol glasses and a string connecting the two glasses. Later they replaced the string with a tube and subsequently compared the travel of sound through the string with the travel of sound through the tube. Besides building an understanding among the students that sound requires a medium to propagate, the students discovered that the sound travels better in solids. The simple but interesting experiment played a vital role in giving clarity to the students about travel of sound.
