Dated: 04-12-2015
Google organized a 2-day workshop on 4th and 5th December led by the EDTech team focusing on using ‘Google Apps for Education’ (GAFE) that will help teachers to use technology to manage their day to day task effectively and efficiently. It will also increase student engagement with effective use of technology. Google believes that educators are the pivots and more importantly they are the key change agents when it comes to progressing schools to support an environment of open web learning, or a place where using the internet and technology to further learning is widely accepted.
Google Apps for Education is a suite of free productivity tools for classroom collaboration. It includes Classroom, Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and more. Additional domain and user management features can be accessed through the Admin Console and the best part is every product is free of cost. At the workshop various sessions and activities were conducted by Mr. Jay Atwood, Regional Director-India, Middle East, Asia, EdTech Team, Inc. Ms. Suchitra Singh and Ms. Sumeeti Bhatia from ICT Department of Presidium, Gurgaon attended the 2-day workshop.
The workshop basically focused on the use of various Google Apps in Education. It was interesting to know how various Apps like Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive and Google Calendar can be used by teachers to share their documents and data in a collaborative environment. Google Classroom is a totally new concept in which a teacher can work with the students of his/her class online. All the assignments can be shared and evaluated using this App. The workshop was a great learning experience.
