PRESIDIANS BRUSH UP THEIR HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE AT ITIHAAS WALK

Cesare Pavese very rightly said, “We do not remember days, we remember moments”. We put this thought into action at Presidium, designing each day to be full of experiential learning for our Presidians. With the same objective in our Term 2 of Itihaas we organised a trip to Anangpur Village for Grade VII Dwarka 22 branch on 6th November 2015.
Excited Presidians were full of enthusiasm during the walk as they were all set to play the role of an interviewer, as a part of the module. They interacted with the villagers and got to interview Neha Didi as well who answered all their questions. These questions ranged from the history to the present day situation of the village.
Presidians learnt interesting anecdotes about the history of the village. They were informed that the village was built by a Tomar Rajput King, Anang Pal. They also got to know that people now inhabiting the village are not ‘Rajputs’ but they belong to the ‘Gujjar’ clan, which is a nomadic tribe settled here long time ago. They also gathered the administration details of the village like it falls under the Nagar Nigam.
They witnessed the development in the village as well, and got to see the facilities like schools for children, especially for the girl child, Pukka roads, transportation, hospitals, etc. They were thrilled to see the daily lifestyle of the villagers where they witnessed that domestic animals like cow, buffaloes and camels are an intrinsic part of the lives of the village folk. They also explored the narrow lanes of the village and visited the ‘Suraj Kund’ or the ‘Sun Lake’ built by the Tomar King.
The trip was a great learning experience for them as it unfurled many facts about the place which will be helpful for the students during the course of the term.
