CHILDREN’S DAY

“Out of many things that money cannot buy, the spirit of childhood ranks topmost.”

Children's Day, November 14th, is celebrated in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, independent India’s first Prime Minister. It is due to his love and passion for children that this day is marked as Children’s Day, thereby honouring childhood. Our young students celebrate this day with their dear Sudha Ma’am, the Honorary Chairperson of the Presidium. Showering the Presidians with voluminous love and heaps of blessings, Mrs. Gupta encourages the leaders of tomorrow to enjoy their childhood with the greatest essence of happiness. The teachers also make the day extremely special for the students by hosting an assembly and creating a memory & happy atmosphere.

EARTH DAY

‘Make every day, Earth Day.’
Presidium strongly believes in this and encourages students to be environmentally conscious citizens who create the change they aspire to. To mark Earth Day and emphasize upon the need to save trees, the students are involved in different activities through the week. From planted saplings in and around school to creative activities like slogan writing, card making, poster making and poem writing, the Presidians strongly raise awareness about conserving natural resources and keeping surroundings clean. The Honorary Chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta always appreciates the efforts of the Presidians and motivates them to join hands to save our mother Earth from the increasing environmental degradation due to the unhealthy man made practices, growing industrialisation and urbanisation.

GANDHI JAYANTI

“Peace is the most powerful weapon of mankind. It takes more courage to take a blow than to give one.” -Mahatma Gandhi.

Every year on 2nd October Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated at Presidium. As the programme begins with a prayer song, a devotional ambience prevails at the school. It is then followed by a meaningful prayer service in the form of ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’. After the early morning prayers, a special assembly is conducted in the school where the students learn about the life of Mahatma Gandhi along with the values he stood for. This programme is then continued by cultural events which consist of plays, songs and dance sequences, all of which add to the patriotic passion among the students. Gandhi's favourite bhajan (Hindu devotional song), ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’, is also sung in chorus in his memory.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD

A big part of education is to let the young generation, especially young women know they have a right. With this thought the students of Presidium celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls’ faces, while promoting women empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights. The young students express their take on empowerment with spectacular speeches. Dance performances are also performed by the talented artists to showcase that women are rising in every sphere of life and they are truly unstoppable. It is a magnificent sight to behold wherein the students confidently vouch for gender equality and pledge for a change.

FRIENDSHIP DAY

“The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love.” -Hubert H. Humphrey
The friends you make in school are one of the bestest you can ever have. There is something about these childhood friends that you can never replace. Presidium is the progenitor of many such friends for life. The occasion of Friendship Day definitely calls for a magnificent celebration of friendships, those secret jokes, the fun conversations and all the thrilling experiences of our dear Presidians. The students enjoy the day to the fullest as the tie colourful friendship bands on the wrists of their buddies & teachers. The premises reverberate with Friendship Day fervour as the worth of true camaraderie is cherished by all.

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

“The best way to change the society and the underlying issues is to channelize the power of woman in every walk of life.”
The students of Presidium express their gratitude to their teachers, mothers and other women as they celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 8 every year. Through the medium of dance, public speaking, theatre etc, a beautiful show is put-up to learn about the great power women have for the well-being of the family and society. To make them feel special the female staff is presented with a small token of love like a flower, chocolate or a card.

WORLD LITERACY DAY

According to UNESCO, “Literacy is at the heart of basic education for all and essential for eradicating poverty, reducing child mortality, curbing population growth, achieving gender equality by ensuring sustainable development, peace and democracy.” World literacy day is celebrated all over the world to promote the importance of education among individuals and communities. At Presidium this day is celebrated with a special assembly wherein the main focus is on the importance of literacy in our lives. It gives a great opportunity to expand our outlook for education and literacy. Presidium also believes that inculcating the habit of reading in children at an early age opens their mind to the love for learning.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

The students at Presidium support World Mental Health Awareness day by taking part in numerous activities which promote the importance of mental health among students. The activities range from mindfulness meditation sessions to a poster-making competition. These exercises help to increase an awareness of one’s own thoughts and feelings to reduce anxiety and boost levels of concentration. Mrs. Sudha Gupta addresses the students on mental health issues, the stigma associated with it and what students can do to promote mental health awareness. Older students are encouraged to think positive thoughts, to be aware of their feelings and how to plan their future successfully. This day is filled with awareness-building exercises to reinforce the message that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s ‘time to talk, time to change’.

PEACE DAY

Peace Day is devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and people. International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on September 21st at Presidium and worldwide. It provides a globally observed date for all of humanity to commit to peace in spite of differences and work together for a more unified, tolerant and compassionate global culture. Peace Day provides a powerful and inspiring opportunity to engage students in diverse activities related to peace, unity and making a positive difference in their world. Meaningful involvement helps set a tone of respect and unity early. Whether it’s a poem, a proverb, or a story, we invite students to share some literature from their culture during the special assembly.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life.” -Billie Jean King
National Sports Day is an important event in the life of every school. Sports play a vital role in enhancing the physical as well as mental development of the students. The much awaited Annual Sports Day is usually held during January every year across all branches, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The Honorary Chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta makes sure to be present at every event to boost the students with her positive vibes and emphasise on the importance of sports in a child’s life. From races to Karate, long jump to taekwondo, march past to cricket and football matches, the students participate in the spirit of the occasion in a grand way.

TEACHER’S DAY

“A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and Touches a heart”
A firm believer in education and a well-known diplomat, scholar and above all a teacher, Dr .Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan gave us a reason to celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5th September every year. Teachers look forward to celebrate this occasion no less than the students. It is a day for every student to honour his/her teachers and acknowledge them for all that they have learned in life. Their efforts need to be recognized as they too need encouragement and accreditation for shaping up the future of every individual. The Presidians dedicate a wonderful assembly for all their Gurus and showcase the role of teachers in every student’s life. Presenting their varied talents by participating in numerous items like dance and instrumental music, they warmly acknowledge the teachers.

MOTHER’S DAY

It’s very well said “As God couldn't have been present everywhere in the world; he must have created mothers to make up this loss”. Everywhere in our life, mother's role is supreme. She is our first teacher, first guide and first friend. We cannot really thank or do even half of what a mother does for her child. But just to appreciate the efforts and love they shower upon their child, every year in May Presidians invite the mother’s to school for Mother’s Day celebrations. A special assembly is dedicated to the mothers and the Presidians do all that it takes to express their love for God’s silent representatives.

HINDI DIWAS

Hindi is the mother tongue and to celebrate the popularity our official language, Hindi Divas (हिन्दी दिवस) is celebrated on 14th September all over India.
